As a practice HRT will no longer be on repeat prescription – This is to ensure patients are being properly monitored, this is normally annually.
We will not refuse to issue medication but this may be limited to 1 month’s supply if monitoring is overdue.
When the HRT supply chain issues are resolved then we will prescribe HRT to cover 1 year provided monitoring is current. This should hopefully serve as a reminder to each patient that they are needing a review when they have only a few weeks left of medication.
Unfortunately, due to the ongoing supply issues NHSE are asking GP practices and Pharmacies to restrict supplies to max of 3 months and in some instances 2 months.
